31 Curious leaders create healthy employees

Have you ever been a part of a fan based social media group for a sports team?

I think its quite hilarious how many GMs we have roaming out there that just haven't been given the chance, but carry unlimited ideas on how to win the World Series.

To some degree, we all know the next GM or the winning strategy isn't likely to come from a group like that. They don't have the insight behind closed doors from the locker room to the front office to genuinely know everything they need to in order to innovate with next level decisions.

But how many organizations treat their employees this same way? They treat them like fans they are never going to listen to nor bother with potential winning strategies. Some employees have the same false hope of being a part of a winning organization no different than the life long fan of a team that will never win a championship.

It takes curiosity to be a good leader. Curious leaders create healthy employees. It takes curiosity to learn what barriers are preventing growth or empathetically understand what boundaries are missing from their efforts to the organizations mission. And it takes reminding yourself as a leader that there are dynamics at play you'll never know about until you treat your employees not as clueless fans, but as loyal people.
